Terms of Membership

Draft pending legal review. These terms are a working draft prepared in good faith and have not yet been reviewed by counsel. They will be before the Institute accepts any payment.

1. What you are buying

A membership in a private association. You are not enrolling in a school, and the Institute is not accredited. We award no degrees, no academic credit, no certificates, and no diplomas.

A rank is standing within this association. It is not a qualification recognised by any outside body, no employer or institution is obliged to accept it, and nothing on this site should be read as a claim that they will.

2. Price and renewal

  • Monthly: $20.00, charged on the same day each month, renewing automatically until cancelled.
  • Annual: $200.00, charged once a year, renewing automatically until cancelled.

You agree to these renewal terms separately from these terms as a whole, before the first charge. We email you an acknowledgement afterwards containing the price, the frequency, the cancellation method, and a direct cancellation link.

On the annual plan we email a renewal reminder in advance of each renewal date. We give advance notice before any price change or material change to these terms, and you may cancel before it takes effect.

3. Cancelling

You may cancel at any time, online, from your account, in one click. No telephone call, no email to support, and no retention conversation is required. Cancellation stops future charges from the end of the current billing period.

Cancelling does not remove your rank, your marks, or your entry in the Register. Nothing you have earned is revoked. If you rejoin, your payment count resumes rather than restarting.

4. Refunds

See Refunds and cancellation.

5. Outside examinations

GED®, CLEP®, and DSST® examinations are administered by the American Council on Education and GED Testing Service, the College Board, and Prometric respectively. They are not administered by the Institute, we charge nothing for them, and we receive nothing from them. Any award of credit arising from them is at the sole discretion of the receiving institution. We make no promise that you will pass any examination or that any institution will accept any result.

6. Conduct

Members are expected to do their own work, to represent their standing honestly, and to treat other members civilly. Work submitted for a mark or a masterpiece must be yours. Misrepresenting a rank outside the Institute is grounds for its withdrawal.

7. Your content

You keep ownership of everything you write and make here. By submitting a masterpiece for review you agree that the work, the judges’ names, and their written decision may be published in the Register, because a judgement nobody can see is worth nothing. You may ask for your Register entry to be withdrawn from public view at any time.

8. Suspension

We may suspend or end a membership for non-payment, for plagiarism, or for conduct that makes the Institute unusable for other members. Where we do, we say why in writing.

9. Changes

We may change these terms. Material changes are notified in advance, and continuing your membership after they take effect is your acceptance. Prior versions are kept and dated.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Kansas.
